Memorial Day in Kiawah!

What an AMAZING weekend! It really does not get  much better than this! Since I took Thursday off to celebrate Jackson's last day of school and Greg has Thursday afternoons off, we were able to leave around 2 PM and arrived at 8PM. So much better than getting in after midnight! As soon as we got there, Jackson could not wait to give Noni her birthday present.  He was so funny! His said we couldn't celebrate her birthday without cake, so we also brought her a delcious chocolate cake from Gabriels.

Somebody was a little excited to see his Noni! This weekend was filled with tons of beach time, swimming, concerts at Freshfields, ice cream,  and just enjoying time with family and great friends. I am often saddened by the fact that since both my parents have passed that my kids only have 1 set of grandparents, but they are so blessed that Noni and Granddaddy are the Cadillac of Grandparents! These 2 kids really did win the Grandparent lottery with them!

Getting ready to hit the beach!

My annual picture of the boys running up the boardwalk!

Beckett initially was not too sure about the beach. I don't think he understood that the hard sand was just sand. Thank goodness of Noni who was able to reassure him and get him comfortable with the beach again.

Jackson is growing up way to fast! Gone are the days when we had to help him out into the ocean to catch waves. He does it all by himself now!

Beckett and Noni. We literally spent all day at the beach. We went to the beach in the morning, ate lunch, swam at the pool for a little while, and then Noni would take Beckett home to nap while the rest of us played at the beach some more. We didn't leave the beach until after 5:30 each evening!

I just love this picture of the two of them having so much fun together.

Kiawah alligator!

My little tree climber.

Each evening after dinner, we would head to Freshfields for a concert, dancing, and of course, ice cream!

The boys went to the toy store and wanted this light up beach ball. They had a blast bouncing it back and forth to eachother.

Ice cream time! Nothing says summer like blue cotton candy ice cream in a sprinkle waffle cone with marshmallows and gummy bears. Delicious!

I think he liked it!

We were so excited that the Konops were able to join us on Friday for the weekend. Here is Andrew all loaded up to make the bike ride to the beach. I wish I had a picture of us with all our gear. We looked hilarious towing surf boards, sand toys, boogie boards, foaties etc!!

Such sweet friends!

The boys.

Best Grandparents ever!!!

Check out my little surfer. It was really impressive to watch him pop up and ride the wave in like it was no big deal. I do have to say that we did have our first encounter with large ocean animal while on this trip. Jackson was playing in the sand and Greg and I were in calf deep water playing Fiddlestick. We looked over and about 10 feet from us was a SHARK!! Everyone slowly got out of the water and just watched it. It swam back and forth for about 15 minutes and then swam away. The scary thing was that it was inside the break right where all of us were surfing just a few minutes earlier. That sort of ruined that day at the beach and we didn't get back in the water, but after researching that there are only 75 shark attacks each year worldwide, we thought the odds were in our favor and headed back out the next day!

Every afternoon Noni and Grandaddy would bring us a delicious lunch. Beckett would eat and then loved taking his wheelbarrel and running up and down the ramp.

After lunch, it was kids crafts time! The kids did crafts while the adults relaxed by the pool with an adult beverage :). Perfection!

After kids crafts, it was time to head back to the beach! There was a lot of hole digging by these two!

We went back to Freshfields for another concert and some dancing. Beckett was so funny and kept sharing his pretzels with this little girl. It was so sweet!

Besties!

Family pic! I really cannot say enough wonderful things about this trip. It was effortless. Noni and Granddaddy went above and beyond the call of duty to make this trip truly spectacular! We had such a great time that we are going to repeat it for 4th of July! Can't wait!!

On the way home we were able to stop and see Gigi at her new place. A perfect ending to a perfect weekend :)
