We surprised the kids with an awesome weekend trip to Legoland Florida. They just opened up a Lego themed hotel in March and we found great flight deals, so we decided to go for it! We kept it a surprise which was so fun! We had a 7 am flight, which meant we were up at 4:30. I woke Jackson up telling him it was time to go to school. He groaned and rolled out of bed. When he got to the stairs, I had his new R2D2 packed suitcase awaiting. He looked and it very perplexed. I then told him that we weren't going to school today, but flying to Legoland instead. He was SO EXCITED, but quickly recalled that he had a spelling test that day. I had to reassure him that it was going to be fine and he would make it up. :) We left at 5 am thinking we would have plenty of time to eat breakfast at the airport and catch our flight. Little did we know that the line to get through TSA was going to be the longest we have ever been in! As I was carrying Beckett and telling Jackson to run ahead to the gate, they paged our name. We barely made it! Phew!!!
Ready for takeoff! I was pouring down sweat. I had to run up the escalator holding Beckett which must have been 100 stairs and then sprint all the way down to the end where our gate was. I really needed some breakfast at that point! Luckily, I packed lots of snacks to tide us over!
Landing in Orlando! We didn't check the boys bags and they did great carrying them around the airport.
Beckett wanted me to take a pic of him hanging out :)
We rented a car and headed out for the 1 hour drive to Legoland. We arrived around 10:30 which was right when the park opened. Our rooms were not ready, but I had packed our bathing suits so we could head right for the water park. As we were checking in, the kids started playing with legos.
The Legoland Hotel is really a genius hotel. They had this pirate ship playground right next to the bar :) Each night they had a show to entertain the kids, while the parents can enjoy an adult beverage. The also have the Lego Club where the kids could go in and watch a movie. It was awesome!
Made entirely out of legos!
After we were checked in, we headed to the park. We had a 2 day hopper pass and our second surprise for the kids was that the Fosters were going to be joining us that night. We had planned on going to Legoland the following day. However, as we were walking through the park, there were no lines for any of the rides! We were worried that, since the following day was Saturday, we were not going to be so lucky, so we hit all the rides. It's hard to see from this pic, but those are Lego otters. They even had Lego squirrels up in the trees.
First ride! Beckett could go on all the rides except 3 of them. This was 1 of them. Jackson decided to be brave and go on in with Mommy.
This has got to go down as the all time best ride photo ever!! Despite the look of shear terror on his face, he decided to ride it again with Daddy!
While Jackson and Daddy rode the roller coaster, Beckett and I decided to play a game. Go figure! We win the largest prize!! So much fun to carry that around all day! Oh, and we didn't stop there. When it was all said and done, we went home with 3 Giant Stuffed Prizes!
Time for Beckett and Jackson to ride a ride together!
The kids have seen the commercials for Legoland and the thing they were most excited about was getting their driver's licenses. We immediately headed to the Ford Driving School.
They had a smaller version for Beckett's age. It was so cute with a Lego gas station and hot dog stand etc. Beckett loved going around and around!
Jackson's was a little more in depth with a training video prior to the course. Beckett and I decided to cool off a little bit while we waited.
Here he goes! They had stop lights and a round about. They had to follow all the rules in order to get their license.
He passed!
Lego dinosaur! After Legoland, we headed to the water park. We obviously don't have any pictures from there, but it was a lot of fun! There were big slides, wave pool, lazy river, and a water filled jungle gym. Nice way to cool off!
We closed out the park and headed to our room around 5. There were 3 themed room choices. Adventure, Pirate, and Kingdom. We chose Kingdom. As soon as we go in, there was a treasure hunt! The kids had to find the 3 number combination to the treasure chest.
Beckett decided to check out his sleeping quarters while Jackson did the hunting. This was another awesome feature to the Legoland hotel. The kids had their own bunkbeds that were separate from the parents! They had their own tv and everything There was even a trundle underneath the bunk for a third child. Genius!!
Jackson had to solve this puzzle to get the third and final number.
He did it! Inside were Legos for the kids, snacks, and drinks. I was also impressed with the product choice the hotel made. Everything was Honest Kids brand from the juice to the shampoo.
Best elevator ever! As soon as the door closed, the music started and the disco ball lit up. Super fun!
Surprise! We had planned on them seeing eachother at breakfast, but we ended up reaching the elevator at the same time. All I heard was Jackson say, "Jack, what are you doing here?" They were so excited!!
Day 2 in Legoland with our buddies!
Sweet boys.
Emmett and WildStyle!
The boys were so excited to get to ride the roller coasters together.
Here they are before one of the big rides the Dragon!
Off with their heads!
Beckett and Henry had to get in on the action as well.
This was another genius move by Legoland. Around all the water rides are these little pods. For $5 you can step in and get dried off.
Pizza time!
Beckett loved the Statue of Liberty. This was in Miniland. They had Washington DC, St. Augustine, Las Vegas, etc all made of Legos. It is really quite impressive.
Jousting anyone? Jackson was very disappointed that he didn't get to actually try to hit the target.
Such a fun trip! We must have gone at the best time because even Saturday, we didn't wait more than 5 minutes for anything. The kids had so much fun and it has probably been our best trip to date. Initially I thought this was going to be a 1 time trip, but now I can definitely see us going again.
Goodbye Legoland! Thanks for the awesome memories!
I did have to post a pic of the King in his castle :)
