Kiawah June 2012

We just got back from the most wonderful trip to Kiawah to visit Noni and Granddaddy and spend some fun times at the beach! Before I get into the trip, I have to give a little update on my sweet Beckett. I can't believe that Beckett is 6 months old! I swear I do not know where the time has gone! As far as developmentally, we are right on track! He is talking so much, sitting up for periods of time by himself, and rolling all over the place. He is still such a happy little boy and just goes with the flow! We are still working on the eating part and he is now eating his oatmeal and some fruits. He loves his little feeder and eats bananas, watermelon, grapes, and pineapple with it. We had our 6 month check up and he is great on length, but we still need to work on his weight. We keep shoveling the food in him, so hopefully our next visit, we will have made some progress!! As far as our roadtrip to Kiawah, it could not have been better! We had the best time boogie boarding, swimming, playing in the sand, and enjoying time with Noni and Granddaddy!!
Noni had an exersaucer that Beckett went in for the first time. He absolutely loved it and was thoroughly entertained! It is so funny to look at this picture and then look back at the picture of Jackson in it for the first time. They are about the same age and it is amazing how much they look alike!!
Heading to the beach! Jackson absolutely loved riding his bike to the beach! He did great and would ride it all by himself the entire way! He is growing up so fast!!
I have a picture of Jackson on the boardwalk to the beach from each visit to Kiawah. It is amazing how big he is getting! He is really starting to look more like a little boy and less like my little toddler!!
Jackson has been playing with this crane since his first trip to the beach and still loves it everytime!
Let's try some boogie boarding!
I was thoroughly impressed with Jackson's skills! He would ride the waves like a pro! I also got a glimpse of my little guy's competetive side. Everyone knows how competetive Greg and I are, so it was so funny to see that it looks like Jackson has inherted that trait. He would race me boogie boarding and while he was riding the wave, he would look over to see if he was ahead of me. He had such a look of determination on his face and would kick so hard to beat me. It was hilarious! He would beat me everytime!
 Here comes a big wave!
Riding it all the way into the shore!
Jackson did so great! He even had a couple of wipe outs but would just pop back up and want to do it again. Mommy was a little nervous, but he did great!
Running with his crane!
Beach day #2! This time Jackson wanted to carry his boogie board by himself.
Beckett's first trip to the beach! Of course, he just went with the flow and hung out.
 Beach bum!
We always enjoy going to Freshfields on Friday nights to see the concert. Jackson is not much of a dancer, but he loves to throw the balloon balls and of course, get an ice cream treat!
 My two boys!
 Granddaddy and the boys!
 Jackson posing with the frogs!
 My little beach boy!!
Heading back to the beach again for round 3!
I cannot wait to take him to the beach again! He had the best time!!

Our trips always end with a visit to GiGi. This was the first time she met Beckett. He took right to her!

Thank you Noni and Granddaddy for the best beach vacation! We can't wait to come back in August!
We love you Noni and Granddaddy! See you in a few weeks!

Father's Day 2012

What can I say about daddy? It is difficult for me to find the words to describe how much I love this man and how blessed I am to be able to spend my life with him. He is a dedicated physician always going the extra mile for his patients. He is a loving husband and the most amazing daddy. The smiles on Jackson and Beckett's face say it all! Even after a long day at work, he comes home with smiles and hugs and heads outside to play with his boys. The joy on Jackson's face when his daddy comes home is truly priceless! All I can say is that I am so thankful that he chose me to to spend his life with! For Father's day this year, we started out with breakfast with granddaddy and then we head to the pool! We swam all afternoon and then headed home for Daddy's special dinner. Fried chicken, green beans from our garden, macaroni and cheese and chocolate delight for dessert. This year daddy got a new set of golf clubs!! They are custom made for him, so we will see how his game improves!! We love you so much daddy!!
This is Daddy's new ride!! I have to admit, the convertible is a little bit more for mommy :)
We would have had 4 Nesmith boys in this picture, but Beckett was taking a little snooze. Happy Father's Day Granddaddy!! Now you should never get lost!!
Now, I have to blog about how proud I am of my sweet Jackson. He never ceases to amaze me! We had our first trip to the dentist!! Jackson was so brave and could not have been a more perfect patient! We went to a pediatric dentist and had the most wonderful experience. They put Jackson right at ease!! Before heading back for his cleaning, Jackson met a little buddy and they loved playing with all the games!
I just love how Jackson can meet friends in any situation!
Before we went back for the cleaning, they told us that he needed a teeth cleaning, flossing, fluoride treatment, and x-rays. They said the would determine how much they could get done based on how he was doing. I am so proud to say that Jackson was such an excellent patient, they were able to complete the entire exam! Before the dental hygienist began the cleaning, she showed Jackson exactly what she was going to do on a kangaroo. Jackson watched very closely!
Here is my little man getting ready for his cleaning!
I was so impressed how well he listened. He opened his mouth when asked and didn't swallow any of the polish!!
Post cleaning picture with the big toothbrush!
Now it was time for some x-rays. He was such a trooper!!
 All clean!!

No cavities!!!

Memorial Day Fun!

What a weekend filled with swimming and more swimming and more swimming, friends, and barbecues! I must again give my husband a big thanks.....I wasn't so sure about joining the country club last year but now I am thrilled! We have so enjoyed many kid friendly events and have spent quite a bit of time at the pool already! Every holiday the club has some sort of event and for Memorial Day they had a swimming party filled with splash contests, ice cream, balloons, and face painting. We had the best time and I am sure will spend many more Memorial days there! To start out our Memorial day weekend, I introduced Jackson to water balloons. He didn't understand at first that the fun was in the balloons breaking, but soon caught on!
 Catch it daddy!!
After the water balloons, we headed to the country club for our first swim of the season! Jackson continues to have zero fear of the water and jumped off the diving board again without skipping a beat! He swims very well with his floaties and I don't think it will be long until those are a thing of the past!!
Here is Jackson's first dive of the season. He dove into the water and swam all the way to the ladder by himself.
Climbing the ladder like a pro!
On Memorial day, Jackson had his first swim team practice! Jackson is a jellyfish on the country club swim team. It took him a while to warm up to the instructor because all he wanted to do was jump off the diving board, but she was able to keep him distracted!
Beckett doing what Beckett does best. This child gets carted all over the place and never complains one bit! He is such a sweet little guy!!

After swim team, we stayed for the barbecue. They had so many fun things for Jackson. Here is Jackson getting his sword!
He wanted to be a pirate so of course, he needed his pirate patch!
Aargh!!!

No barbecue is complete without a little sweet treat!
My sweet pirate. After the barbecue we then headed over to our friend's house for another barbecue. Between all the swimming and playing with the kids, Jackson was worn out!!
As for Beckett, he is now enjoying some time in the jumperoo. I cannot believe how big he is getting! I am so blessed to be the mommy of these two amazing little boys!!

Goodbye 2's Class!

What an amazing year we had in the 2's class! I have to admit that I was a little nervous about switching Jackson from First Pres to First United Methodist, but in the end, we could not have been happier about the decision. Jackson had such a wonderful group of children in his class and has made such good friends! He absolutely loved his teachers and it was a little sad to think he wasn't going to have them again next year, but I am sure his teachers next year will be just as good! It is amazing how much Jackson has grown this past year and his curiousity and intelligence never cease to amaze me. To celebrate the end of the year, Jackson had a little performance and picnic.
This is Jackson raising his hand to answer a question. Too cute!
Here they are practicing 1of their songs before the big performance.
They performed all the songs they had been practicing all year in music class. It was really cute to watch Jackson sing and do every move!
After the performance, we celebrated with some blueberry shortcake. Well, let's be honest....whip cream.
After the performance, they had a picnic with bubble, popsicles, dancing, and tricycle races.
 Popsicle!
 On your marks...get set....go!
Not only did Jackson complete another year of preschool, but Beckett turned 5 months! Even more surprising to me is that he is cutting his first two bottom teeth!! He has had a bit of a rough time with it so hopefully they will cut through soon. I have to write down this story, because I never want to forget it. The other day we were driving in the car and Beckett was crying really hard. A few seconds later, Jackson started crying. I looked over at him and asked him why he was crying. He put his hands over his face and said "I just love him so much it makes me sad when he cries." It was the sweetest thing I have ever heard.
Brotherly love!
 Look who found his feet!
Loves grabbing everything and putting it in his mouth!
First swim! Beckett had his first swim with his brother in the baby pool and loved it! I can't wait to take him to the beach!!
My miracle iron man. Every time I look at him and his brother, I cannot believe how blessed I am to be their mommy!!
