23 weeks and trip to the beach!

Well, we had our second road trip of Jackson's life. Kiera and I left early with the kids on Friday and they did great. There was only 1 brief moment of crying. Little did I know what was awaiting us. Jackson did great during the days, but refused to sleep at night or take naps. The last night we were so desperate for sleep that we put Jackson in the bed with us. As soon as he got in the bed, he put one hand on me and one on Greg and fell fast asleep. It was actually very sweet. Jackson had many firsts this trip. He used a sippy cup for the first time. He was so excited and of course put it straight into his mouth and started sucking. He also had his first bath without an infant bath tub. And finally, he had his first ocean and pool experience. He really didn't like the water, but it was very cold so that may have been part of the problem. He also wasn't sleeping much, so probably not the best time to try to introduce new things. He didn't mind the sand and would sit and play in it for a little while. I am sure his next trip we won't be able to get him out of the water like his big cousin Mary. Here are some pics from the trip.

Noni and Granddaddy had tons of toys for the kids. This is when we first arrived and Mary is waving Hello!

Jackson and daddy. Notice the drool on his short. Lots of drool, but still no teeth!

Noni bought Jackson some cool sunglasses for the beach trip.

During this trip Jackson actually loved to be in his stroller. This is one of the few places we could get him to fall asleep.

Beach bum!

Who needs the sand and the ocean when you can play with this fascinating tire.

Luckily mommy put sun tan lotion on my belly!

I'm just going to sit and catch some rays with daddy.

We took Jackson to a little inlet where the water was warmer and he actually sat and played in it.

Bathtime in the rubber ducky!

We tried very hard to get a good picture of the babies with Noni and Granddaddy but it was close to their bedtime so they would not cooperate. Jackson and Mary are looking at eachother like what in the world is going on?

5 months!

Jackson is now 5 months old and is becoming such a big boy! We are really starting to see his personality with tons of smiles and giggles. We have found out that he has lots of tickle spots including his feet, under his arms, his belly, and even under his chin. This week he had his first taste of oatmeal with bananas, and he loved it. He was so excited that his arms kept going up and down! He is also sleeping like a big boy from 7Pm until between 6 and 7 AM. He is very vocal and loves to hear the sound of his own voice. He also realizes when I am not there. If I put him in his jumperoo and walk away, he will turn around to follow me. If he can't see me, he will whine until I come back. Once he sees me, he will smile and start playing again. We have our second road trip tomorrow! We are heading to Charleston to visit Noni and Granddaddy. Kiera and I are taking the babies early, so hopefully they will do okay. Keeping with the beach theme, the babies will be watching Finding Nemo. Well, we hope they will watch it :) Wish us luck!!

Jackson laughing at his daddy.

Greg gave Jackson a carrot and then kept saying "What's up Doc?" Jackson couldn't stop laughing!

Daddy is so funny!!

Say it again daddy.

Mommy got a little behind on folding the laundry so Jackson decided to help.

You better get this done before daddy comes home!
We had a playdate at the park and somehow I lost Jackson's hat, so he had to borrow his friend Sarah's. Daddy was not pleased.

21 weeks!

I can't believe that Jackson is almost 5 months old! Time really does fly by. Jackson is starting to enjoy eating his oatmeal so much that we are now up to twice a day! I am so excited to be able to give him new foods next month. We had some more firsts this week. Jackson had his first wagon ride with his cousin. We didn't go anywhere, but he sat in it like a big boy. He had a very busy Saturday with 2 parties to attend. His friend Jordan had his first birthday party and his Aunt Kiera and Uncle Brad had a cookout. Aunt Kiera made all the kids apple juice popsicles so Jackson had to try it. He loved it! It was a little messy but he gobbled it up. We also had our first Mother's Day together on Sunday. Jackson and Daddy surprised mommy with a gift certificate to the spa and one of his baby pictures framed. Here are some pics from the week.

If I stretch real hard, I think I can get it.

Got it!

Can somebody please pass me the sports section?

If only I could get my foot in my mouth!

Sitting in the wagon with my cousin Mary is so much fun!

What is this mommy?

DELICIOUS!

Happy Mother's Day! Jackson was in a much cuter outfit, but he decided to poop all over himself and mommy so we had to change.

One of my mother's day presents, my handsome son.

Oatmeal is so good I am going to lick the bowl.

My little man.

Jackson is really starting to enjoy time in the jumperoo.

Jumping is so much fun!

20 weeks!

I can't believe that Jackson is now 20 weeks old! He continues to amaze me each day. It seems like everyday he has a new trick. He still loves to stick his tongue out and blow bubbles, but his latest trick is he loves to grab his feet. As soon as he gets into the bumbo, he goes after his feet. He even trys to get them in his mouth! We had another week of firsts. We have moved on to oatmeal, and Jackson seems to enjoy that more than the rice cereal, but he still is not quite sure about this eating thing. He intensely watches me as I eat, but then when I go to feed him, he trys to blow bubbles and spits the food all over the place. We are going to continue working on it daily. Jackson has also graduated to the floppy seat! He now can sit in shopping carts and high chairs at restaurants. Not only does that give mommy's back a break because I don't have to shop with him in the baby bjorn, but he is also able to interact with us while we eat instead of sitting in his carseat! It so much more fun!! Here are some pics from the week!

Jackson loves to give Emma kisses. I just love his new baseball hat.

Jackson sitting like a big boy in the high chair at Panera. He had so much fun watching mommy and daddy eat.

Jackson trying to eat his first apple.

As you can see Jackson is still putting everything in his mouth!

We have quickly learned that the best toys are free! Jackson loves to play with napkins and paper.

First ride in the shopping cart at Home Depot! Jackson was letting daddy know which brand of fertilizer was the best.
This weekend we went to the outlets with Brad, Kiera, and Mary. The boys were brave and took the babies while Kiera and I went shopping. As you can see, Jackson still does not like to spend a lot of time in the stroller and would much rather be in the baby bjorn.
It is hard to tell in this picture, but now during tummy time Jackson will move his arms and legs almost like he is swimming. He lifts his entire body off the ground!
Jackson's latest toy to try to keep him interested during feeding time. It attaches to the tray, but he has already figured out how to pull it off, so it often ends up in his mouth much more often than the oatmeal does.
